Itinerary

Arrive in Leh, the capital of Ladakh, situated at a height of 11,500 ft (3,500 mtrs). You will be transferred to your hotel for check-in. Spend the entire day resting to acclimatise to the high altitude, ensuring your body adjusts well to the thin mountain air. In the evening, you can take a light stroll nearby. Overnight stay at your hotel in Leh.

After breakfast, begin your Leh sightseeing tour. Visit Shey Palace, once the summer retreat of Ladakhi royalty, and the grand Thiksey Monastery, famous for its resemblance to Tibet’s Potala Palace. Continue to the Stok Palace Museum, which houses royal artefacts.

Post-lunch, explore Shanti Stupa, offering panoramic views of Leh, and visit Sankar Gompa and the historic Leh Palace, a 17th-century architectural gem. End the day by wandering through Leh’s bustling markets. Overnight stay at your hotel in Leh.

Today, embark on a full-day excursion to Pangong Lake, located on the Indo-China border. The drive covers around 300 km, crossing the scenic Changla Pass (17,370 ft). Upon reaching Pangong Tso, marvel at the lake’s magical shades of blue as it stretches across the barren landscape. After spending time capturing its beauty, return to Leh in the evening. After breakfast, drive towards Nubra Valley, crossing the legendary Khardung La Pass (18,380 ft), one of the highest motorable roads in the world. Descend into the valley and explore Sumoor village and the serene Samstaling Monastery. Later, check into your camp or hotel in Deskit or Hundar, surrounded by the valley’s surreal landscapes. Overnight stay in Nubra Valley.

In the morning, visit Deskit Monastery, home to a towering Maitreya Buddha statue, and then head to the famous Hunder Sand Dunes. Here, you can enjoy an optional camel safari on double-humped Bactrian camels, unique to this region. Later, drive back to Leh, arriving by evening. Overnight stay in Leh.

After a relaxed breakfast, begin your journey towards Uleytokpo or Alchi. En route, visit the Hall of Fame Museum, built in honour of Indian soldiers, followed by Gurudwara Pathar Sahib and the mysterious Magnetic Hill, where vehicles appear to defy gravity. Witness the confluence of the Indus and Zanskar Rivers at Sangam before continuing to Alchi Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its 11th-century wall paintings and architecture. Overnight stay at a camp or resort in Uleytokpo.

This morning, head towards Kargil, with a stop at the striking Lamayuru Monastery, dramatically perched amid the “Moonland” hills. Continue the drive and pause at Mulbek, where you’ll see the impressive 9-metre-tall rock-carved Maitreya Buddha, dating back to the 7th–8th century AD. Arrive in Kargil by evening and check into your hotel. Overnight stay in Kargil.

Set out early from Kargil, driving through Drass, known as the second coldest inhabited place in the world. Cross the challenging Zoji La Pass (11,500 ft) to reach Sonamarg, the Meadow of Gold. From here, enjoy a smooth two-hour drive through Kashmir’s beautiful countryside before reaching Srinagar. Overnight stay in Srinagar, either at a hotel or traditional houseboat.

After breakfast, transfer to Srinagar Airport for your flight back home, carrying cherished memories of the majestic Leh with Kashmir tour.
